The Educational Foundation of New Richmond recently donated $3,900 to schools in New Richmond as part of its regular grant process.

The Educational Foundation of New Richmond, founded as a nonprofit corporation in 1992, is run by a volunteer board and funded through individual giving, estate planning, class gifts, corporate giving and memorials.

It offers scholarships for students, usually ranging $500-$1,500, and grants to local schools to help fund programs that would otherwise go unrealized due to financial constraints.

Recently, $3,900 was donated to schools in New Richmond through the Jack Reckord Star Grant, named after a longtime New Richmond teacher.

Here’s a list of how the money will be spent:

• $250 — art materials at St. Mary’s School

• $200 — iPod Nanos at Starr Elementary

• $350 — books at Paperjack Elementary

• $500 — wall maps at Hillside Elementary

• $400 — magazine subscriptions at Hillside Elementary

• $350 — alternative texts at Hillside Elementary

• $500 — Science Olympiad at New Richmond Middle School

• $350 — KitchenAid mixer at New Richmond Middle School

• $500 — graphing calculators at New Richmond High School

• $500 — digital piano at New Richmond Middle School

In the past, these grants have helped pay for many books, iPads, helmets, blenders, snowshoeing equipment, etc.

Anyone interested in donating to The Educational Foundation of New Richmond is encouraged to call the district offices at 715-243-7411.

Because the foundation is run by a volunteer board, all money donated to the organization goes toward the scholarships and grants.
