Football lights deemed defective

The football lights at the New Richmond Middle School need to be replaced.

At least two of the six light poles need replacement, said Morrie Veilleux, district administrator. The other four poles are also aging, he said, and will need replacement soon.

The district is currently exploring its options and Veilleux said it’s his hope that a local foundation will step up and help fund moving the football field to the new high school on East Richmond Way.

“Part of that request is for lighting, help us with an officials stand, bleachers, all of those kinds of things,” he said. “We don’t know what the timelines are that we might hear that, but we’re going to explore that possibility before we come to our final (decision).”
