Lois Mae Rudd, age 84, of New Richmond, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Lois Mae Rudd, age 84, of New Richmond, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, from complications of Alzheimer’s.
She was born the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Dabelstein) Knoll on Aug. 7, 1928, in Cylon Township. Lois met her future husband, Lester, in 1942. He then served 3 years in the Marine Corps, and Lois moved to Portland, Ore., working as a nurses aide in a hospital there. They reconnected in 1946 and were engaged at Christmas. After their marriage, Lois was a homemaker until 1957. She then worked at the ski factory in New Richmond, Wringer Coat Factory in Stillwater, Friday Canning, Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant, and retired in 1990 from Lind Shoe Company in Stillwater.
Lois loved watching eagles, traveling, camping, jigsaw puzzles, flower gardening, and time with family. Lois was very proud of the fact that Lester and all six of her children served in the military.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester, son David; grandsons James and John Rudd; sister, Bette Johnston.
Survived by children Robert (Jan) of Hudson, Edwin (Kathie) of Salem, N.H., Gene (Jean) of Valley Lee, Md., Jerry (Eun Ok) of North Platte, Neb., Bonnie (Gary) Muhl of West Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren Scott (Molly) Rudd, Matt (Keli) Rudd, Kathryn Rudd, Becky (Tom) Reppel, Tony (Lauren) Rudd, Jesse (Ashley) Rudd, Keri Muhl, Kelly Muhl, Kevin (Leanne) Muhl; great-grandchildren, Tyler Rudd, Jackson Rudd, Parker Rudd, Paige Rudd, Logan Reppel, Zachary Rudd, Chloe Rudd, Myranda Rudd, Brayden Muhl; brother, David Knoll; brothers-in-law, Stanley (Shirley) Rudd, Vern (Jeri) Rudd; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation will also be Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
