Alberta "Tootie" Steinberger, age 89, of New Richmond, went to meet her Lord on Friday, Dec. 28, surrounded by her family, at the St. Croix Health Center.
Alberta "Tootie" Steinberger, age 89, of New Richmond, went to meet her Lord on Friday, Dec. 28, surrounded by her family, at the St. Croix Health Center.
She was born the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Schuette) Bunge on June 19, 1923, in rural New Richmond. Alberta was a very loving mother. She always thought of everyone else first before herself. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She always made them special gifts such as quilts, ceramics and crocheted items. Her special hobby was her owl collection, which all her family contributed to. She enjoyed traveling in the motor home, especially with Chuck and Della Howe. She loved the St. Croix Health Center's entire staff and considered them family. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and also a member of the American Legion Post 80 Auxiliary for 50+ years.
Alberta is survived by children, Dennis (Barbara) Steinberger of Chetek, Wis., Sandra (James) Venhor, Susan (Thomas) Lorch, and Debra (Scott) Mealey, all of New Richmond; grandchildren, David Steinberger, Lynette (Kevin) Marshall, Stacie (Kevin) Jensen, Jacqueline Johnson, Mackenzie Venhor, Patrick (Nicole) Lorch, Jennifer (Travis) VandenBroeke, Matthew (Jodi) Mealey, Katie (Del) Deatherage; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Roy (Joyce) Bunge; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Anna Bunge; husband, Leander Steinberger; brothers Harold and Robert Bunge; sister, Ardella (Chuck) Howe; and great-grandson John Johnson Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation will also be Monday from 9-11 a.m. at church. Interment will be in New Richmond Cemetery.
