American Girl Doll Samantha was the featured doll of the Somerset Library's American Girl Teal Party this year, the first of which was held Saturday, Jan. 5. Librarian Norma Scott said the event is fun for kids, librarians, parents and volunteers.
She said girls ages 5-12 and their American Girl dolls enjoyed tea, healthy snacks and cookies. Scott also talked about history and the stories of the dolls with the girls.
The historical line of American Girl dolls each have a fictitious history written down in a small series of books detailing the doll's life in the historical time period she "lived" through. Scott said the stories make it easier for girls to relate to history.
This year's featured doll, Samantha, "lived" in the early 1900s.
