The Second Annual Somerset Community Talent Show, presented by the District of Somerset Music Department was held Jan. 11 in the Somerset High School gymnasium. Rachel Erickson, Somerste music teacher and choir director, said the show, emceed by Bill Powers and Corey Lindenberg, raised funds to offset student contest fees for the annual solo and ensemble competition.
Student and community performers auditioned for the chance to perform in the show. Erickson said this year's show included a surprise performance.
"One of the highlights of the evening was a 'Recorder Flash Mob,'" said Erickson. "Al Duerkop, Somerset Elementary Music Teacher, lead an ensemble of recorder players in his arrangement called 'Ode To Chaos.'"
'Ode to Chaos,' Erickson said, featured an arrangement of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
