The Hammond Hotel won the 2012 Holiday Angels trophy for selling the most “angel” icons in Hammond.

Money from the icon sales helped Holiday Angels purchase presents for 126 needy children from 47 families in the Hammond and Roberts area.

The winner of the 2012 trophy for selling the most “angel” icons in Roberts is the Roberts Café.

Holiday Angels coordinator Sandy Goulette said the Holiday Angels had a successful year of fundraising in 2012, allowing the group to buy presents for those 126 children.

“That’s really what it’s about at the end of the day, is helping the kids,” Goulette said.

She said each family was able to request different presents, then a team of volunteers purchased the presents with the donated funds. Then, the presents were packed into big bags with wrapping materials and picked up by the parents so they could be wrapped and ready for Christmas.

“We as a committee just feel that if there’s anything that we can do that’s going to help a child have a good Christmas. That’s kind of what we’re there for,” said Goulette.

In addition to raising money through “angel” icons, Goulette said many other groups donated money.

“The Holiday Angels Committee wishes to thank all of the businesses, organizations and individual people that donated to this year’s campaign and helped provide a merry Christmas for children in the St. Croix Central School District,” Goulette said.
