Special Town Board Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Chairman Schachtner called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Present: Germain, Demulling, Schachtner. Absent: Plourde and Rauch. Wally Neumann and Dave Steel also present.

Purchase of Sander for 1 Ton Truck and Chains: Discussion and review of prices for the purchase of a sander for the 1 ton pick up truck and chains. Motion by Demulling, seconded by Germain to purchase two pair of chains at $1480/pair and 1 set for the 1 ton truck at $259/pair for back and $158/pair for front plus freight from Buechner Municipal Supply. Motion carried. Motion by Demulling, seconded by Germain to purchase the Salt Dogg sander for the 1 ton truck for $4,852.25 from Dave’s Service Center/Star Prairie. Motion carried.

Start Time During Inclement Weather: Consensus was to start at 4:00 a.m. when inclement weather. Road crew can make the decision to call in the part time help if they deem it necessary.

Meet with Somerset School District/Randy Rosburg and Safeway Bus Company: Schachtner stated the Town will go out at 4:00 a.m. to start the snow plowing/sanding but obviously with 100 miles of road the Town cannot get it all done before school starts. Demulling stated he wanted to get all entities together to discuss communication and planning regarding inclement weather. The Village of Somerset typically communicates with St. Croix County regarding what they are doing and will go out anytime between 2:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Rosburg asked if he could have a contact person to call early in the morning. Schachtner stated Neumann and Steel would be the people to contact. Rosburg was given both road crew employees cell phone numbers. Safeway Bus Company will communicate with Rosburg. Rosburg gave his cell phone number to the road crew employees. Safeway Bus Company representative gave maps of the bus route and the more difficult roads for travel.

Meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
