LETTER: Disrespectful letter upsets reader
I guess I don’t know if I am more upset that Jim referred to the president of the United States Barack Obama as “Emperor Oh-Bah-Mah” four times in his letter or the fact that Editor Jeff Holmquist allowed it to be printed.
To the Editor:
In response to Jim Schroeder’s letter on Feb. 14.
I guess I don’t know if I am more upset that Jim referred to the president of the United States Barack Obama as “Emperor Oh-Bah-Mah” four times in his letter or the fact that Editor Jeff Holmquist allowed it to be printed.
Our government is a democracy not ruled by an emperor. Are we now able to write in letters to the New Richmond News and use a different prefix in front of anyone’s name, change the spelling, add lines in between, make up syllables and you will print it.
Would you allow this of a senator, mayor or doctor that someone doesn’t agree with. Also in Jim’s letter he stated … “I’m bettin’ those teachers and administrators in Sandy Hook were wishing they had something to defend themselves with besides spitballs.”
I will neither agree nor disagree with this statement… but I’m betting they wouldn’t nor want to teach their children the disrespect of referring to the president of the United States in a derogatory fashion.
