LETTER: Shine headlights during storms

I don’t think Wisconsin has a law about headlights being on when it’s raining or snowing, but wouldn’t it be a good idea?

To the Editor:

I don’t think Wisconsin has a law about headlights being on when it’s raining or snowing, but wouldn’t it be a good idea?

During our recent snowfall I noticed many cars with their lights off. I know it might be an infringement on someone’s rights, like wearing a helmet while riding your motorcycle or a seatbelt when in your truck or car. These things have been proven to keep you safer.

In most of the country it’s the law to have your lights on during rain or snow events. It makes your vehicle easier to see. Just because you can see OK, don’t assume during inclement weather that everyone can see you.

Assumptions like that could cost the you your life or the life of someone else.
