MADISON - Both of New Richmond's wrestlers were eliminated from the 69th WIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament Friday morning at the Kohl Center.
Shane Blackman was beaten by Green Bay Preble/East's Steve Cygan at 113-pounds in Division 1. Blackman led in the first period 2-0 but a reversal and three-point nearfall in the second period put Cygan ahead to stay. At several points Blackman nearly got a pin but Cygan wouldn't let go of the single leg to win his 100th career victory.
Abram Anderson was pinned by Stoughton's Joe Nelson in 3:51 at 132. Nelson was in control almost the entire match and built up an 8-1 lead by the time of the pinfall.
Blackman, a sophomore, finishes his season at 30-10 and Abramson, a junior, finishes at 25-15.
