For the first time ever, the Badger Wrestling Club is coming to western Wisconsin.
The Badger Wrestling Club is partnering with the prestigious Hudson Golf Club to hold the first annual Badger Wrestling Golf Outing. The event will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, with a four man scramble.
Following the golf there will be a catered dinner and auction. Some of the auction items include Badger football tickets, an honorary wrestling coach position, and more.
In attendance will be the UW-Madison coaching staff led by head coach Barry Davis, a 3-time NCAA champion and Olympic silver medalist and 2010 NCAA Coach of the Year. Assistant coaches Kyle Ruschell (two-time All-American), Ryan Morningstar (two-time All-American), and Trevor Brandvold will also be on hand.
Brandvold is a River Falls native who was a two-time All-American and Big Ten Champion at UW and now coaches the Badger Wrestling Club. The club is supporting Brandvold’s goal, as well as other current Badgers, to make the 2012 USA Olympic Wrestling Team.
Brandvold said he looks at the golf outing as a way to give back to his home region.
“My goal is to help and provide every opportunity possible for young wrestlers in Wisconsin, and especially western Wisconsin, to achieve their dreams of winning state titles and moving on to wrestle in college,” he said.
The cost is $100, which includes golf, dinner, and more. To sponsor a hole or to sign up either contact the Hudson Golf Club, go to
www.badgerwrestlingclub.org, or show up on Saturday, Sept. 24.
