SES holds Iditarod race competition
Somerset Elementary School’s third grade held its own Iditarod competition after reading about “Balto, the Dog Who Saved Nome.” Balto was the lead dog of a team of sled dogs that brought medicine from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Rachel Fuller, SES third grade teacher, said the Iditarod activity enhanced the third-graders’ learning about Balto as well as helped teach the children about teamwork and cooperation.By: Gretta Stark, New Richmond News
