‘Jack’ Rugo, 80

Feb. 13, 2010

"Jack" Rugo was born John Eugene Rugo on May 24, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn. He was the son of Peter and Helen (Pittman) Rugo. At an early age, he moved with his family to a dairy farm in the Deer Park, Wis., area. He graduated from high school in Clear Lake, Wis. Jack was united in marriage to Helen Lobsinger on July 15, 1950. Together they raised three children and enjoyed 56 years together living in the Deer Park area.

He worked at Doughboy Packaging in New Richmond in the engineering department and retired in 1994 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed many activities: pitching softball, bowling, snowmobiling, riding Harleys and being active in the Deer Park community. He also helped his father with farm field work.

He and Helen particularly enjoyed going to the lake. They spent many happy weekends with family and friends at the cabin on Horseshoe Lake near Minong, Wis. As he struggled with health issues, Jack lived in Shell Lake, Wis. He died at the Spooner Health System Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the age of 80 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Helen.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Linda Lennox and her husband Bill of Sarona, Wis.; son, Michael Rugo and his wife Barb of Wrangell, Alaska; daughter, Lori Townsend of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremiah, Peter, Laura, Joe and Jess; twin great-grandchildren, Helen and Mitchell; brothers, William (Genevieve) Rugo of River Falls, Wis., Robert (Charlene) Rugo of Spokane, Wash., and Thomas (Arlene) Rugo of Seebring, Fla.; sister, Mary Williams of Osceola, Wis. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Deer Park with Pastor Jayneanne Gagner officiating. Organist was Joyce Peterson. Interment of the cremains was at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.

Arrangements were with the Williamson-White Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Amery, www.williamsonwhite.com.
