Larry F. "Tub" Eggert, age 68, of Amery, Wis., died at his home, surrounded by his family, early Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer.

Larry F. "Tub" Eggert, age 68, of Amery, Wis., died at his home, surrounded by his family, early Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer.
Larry Francis Eggert was born on July 16, 1943, in Forest Township, the son of Lorne and Violet (Gluege) Eggert. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, attended High Landing School, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1961. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961, served, and was honorably discharged in 1965. During this time, Larry was married to Sandy Stauner on Dec. 8, 1963, and together they raised two daughters, Laurie and Shelley. He moved to Amery in 1966 and over the years worked butchering with his father and brother Bob, construction with Barney Barns, and driving truck for Yellow River-Cemstone.
In his spare time Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing cards, especially cribbage. He loved traveling and feeding the birds, squirrels, and deer around his home. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, Wis. Larry especially loved spending time with his family and many friends. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorne and Violet, and brother-in-law Bob Wood.
Survived by wife, Sandy Eggert, Amery; daughters, Laurie (Larry Reinke) Peterson, Turtle Lake, Wis., Shelley (John) Wassberg, New Richmond, Wis.; grandchildren, Chris (Jamie Harr) Peterson, Amery, Travis Peterson, Turtle Lake, Heather Peterson, Turtle Lake, Asia Wassberg, New Richmond, Kalley Wassberg, New Richmond; great-grandchild, Kristy Nelson, Amery; brothers and sisters, Darleen Wood, Clear Lake, Sylvia (Robert) Scheerer, South St. Paul, Minn., Robert Eggert, Deer Park, Wis., Dennis (Kathy) Eggert, Deer Park, Karen (Chuck Jameson) Booth, Clear Lake; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Grace Lutheran church in Clear Lake. Clergy - Pastor Ellery Groth. Organist - Jeanne Steffen. Honorary casketbearers - Chris Peterson, Travis Peterson, Heather Peterson, Asia Wassberg, Kalley Wassberg. Casketbearers - Bob Eggert, Dennis Eggert, Kent Eggert, Richard Rudd, Bob Stauner, Galen Stauner. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home in Clear Lake is handling the arrangements.
