Shirley M. (nee Oliver) Stanek, 61, R.N., C.N.O.R., registered nurse and certified nurse in the operating room, age 61, died on Oct. 14, 2011.
Shirley M. (nee Oliver) Stanek, 61, R.N., C.N.O.R., registered nurse and certified nurse in the operating room, age 61, died on Oct. 14, 2011.
Shirley lived in New Richmond, Wis., and formerly lived in Aston, Pa. Shirley graduated in 1968 from Sun Valley High School and from Philadelphia General Hospital's Nursing Program in 1971. Shirley loved to quilt and made many beautiful items. Travel was also an enjoyment for her, including to the Four Corners of the United States, Canada, Germany, and Mexico.
Survivors: Beloved wife of James D. Stanek; devoted mother of John Niecko and Melissa Niecko; loving daughter of Hazel Mantz; dear sister of Laurie Bierman (James Linney); also stepdaughter, Samantha E. Stanek; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her father, Thomas Oliver; her two brothers, Glenn Oliver and Thomas L. Oliver; stepson, David A. Stanek; great-grandson Cameron.
Memorial gathering will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Bakken Young Funeral Home Beebe Chapel in New Richmond.

Jim, John, Mel & Family. Our hearts are broken with the loss of Shirl. She was a great woman and touched many lives in her field of work.
