David J. Toenjes, age 67, of Amery, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, at University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview.
David J. Toenjes, age 67, of Amery, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, at University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview.
David was born the son of Edwin and Enid (Berg) Toenjes on Sept. 20, 1944, in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School with the class of 1962. On Oct. 24, 1964, he married Jean Bratager in West St. Paul. David worked as a welder specialist for NSP at the King Plant in Bayport, Minn., for 36 years, retiring in 2000.
He loved to hunt and fish. David fed and watched his birds daily and was an avid Packer fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Edwin Toenjes.
David is survived by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Jean Toenjes; children, Dan Toenjes, Doug (Lisa) Toenjes, Debbie (Gary) Obermueller, Scott (Teresa) Halldorson; grandchildren, Jessica, Shelbie, ChyAnne, Chaise, David, Teddy, Cole, Jared, Logan, Hannah, Kristen, Richard, and Erick; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alan (Barbra) Toenjes, Norman (Cheryl) Toenjes, Neil (Sherry) Toenjes, Kristin (Carlyle) Olsen, Eddie (Jane) Toenjes, Laurie (Bob) Waldbillig; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at West Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Osceola. Memorial visitation will also be Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
