Gerald E. 'Jerry' LaBarre, age 64, of Star Prairie, Wis., died after a courageous 1-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends on Jan. 25, 2012, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Gerald E. 'Jerry' LaBarre, age 64, of Star Prairie, Wis., died after a courageous 1-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends on Jan. 25, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

He was born on May 18, 1947, in St. Paul, Minn. Jerry graduated from North High School and had a 2-year electronics degree. He served in Vietnam with the Air Force and retired from Qwest.

Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edna Mae (Morisson) LaBarre; and his former wife, Annette Courteau.

Survived by his loving wife, Julie (Nelson) LaBarre; children, Wendy (Brian Whipple) LaBarre, Christopher (Linda) LaBarre; sisters, Marilyn LaBarre, and Donna (James) Brown; brother, Bob (Anita) LaBarre; nieces and nephews, Dawn (Paul) Schultz, Michelle (Bill) Nagel (Grant and Carson), and Kris (Dave)Rauenhorst (James); and mother-in-law, Jodie Nelson.

Funeral service 12 noon, Saturday Jan. 28, at Cullen Crea Funeral Home, 307 S. Arch Ave., New Richmond, Wis. Visitation 2 hours prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred. Interment with full military honors Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
