Joseph "Pete" Cook, age 82, of New Richmond, died on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Deerfield Gables in New Richmond.
Joseph "Pete" Cook, age 82, of New Richmond, died on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Deerfield Gables in New Richmond.
He was born the son of Joseph and Lena (Schiefelbein) Cook on Jan. 30, 1929, in Somerset, Wis. He was a graduate of New Richmond High School. He joined the Army and served in Korea. After returning from service, he went to work for Whirlpool in St. Paul where he worked until retiring in 1984. Pete moved to New Richmond in the early 1970s where he met Beverly Route. They were married on Oct. 20, 1975.
He was a member of the New Richmond VFW. Pete enjoyed walking, playing cards, making latch hook rugs, fishing, and camping with family. He was a kindhearted, caring person who loved to laugh and be around people.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly Cook; daughter, Laurie Anderson; siblings, Myrtle Fisher, Lois Hinz, Jimmy Cook, and Jerry Cook.
Pete is survived by his children, Richard Hacken of New Richmond, Alvin (Debbie) Hacken of Newport, Minn., and Carrie (Mick) Shore of New Richmond; grandchildren, Alvin (Katie) Hacken, Don Hacken, John (Katie) Hacken, Tracy (Joe) Nelson, Dan (Cresha) Anderson, Leanne (Jeff) Ziegeweid, Elliot Paulsen; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Minnie Larson of Star Prairie, Rita Haines of Stillwater, Minn., Gladys Knight of Stillwater, Vera Wulf of Osceola, Bernie (Delbert) Singerhouse of Hudson, Jeanette Fletch of Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Memorial visitation will also be 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in New Richmond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
