Stanley Allen "Stan" Ersland, age 57, of New Richmond, Wis., died on Thursday, Feb. 2, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond.

Stan was born July 14, 1954, in Ladysmith, Wis., to parents Laurence Ersland and Margaret Jane Chamberlin. Stan graduated high school in Portland, Ore. In 1972, he was united in marriage to Stephanie Berry. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Victoria, Stan Jr., and Joey. Their marriage later dissolved. Stan entered the United States Army in 1976 and proudly served his country. He worked as an electronics engineer in California before returning to Wisconsin, where he worked as an auto mechanic for Budget Home and Auto in Turtle Lake, Wis., for Warren Hodge.

Stan liked to work on things and was good with his hands. He could work on clocks, all kinds of cars and trucks, and even did woodworking, and when the day was done, he enjoyed sitting back with a cold beer. Stan was an avid collector of knives and had an impressive collection of them. Stan came from a family of 11 children, so naturally he enjoyed spending time with his siblings, his many nieces and nephews, as well as his friends.

Stan lived his life always helping others. Even in death, Stan was able to help others as an organ and tissue donor.

Stan is survived by his sons, Stan Jr. and Joey; his siblings Larry, Arnold (Estella), Donald (Melinda), Steve (Lisa), Randy (Molly), Vicky, and Andy (Kim); his dog, "Baby"; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Victoria; parents, Laurence and Margaret; his brothers John Ray and Troy; and sister Julie.

A memorial service for Stanley Ersland will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, with Reverend Arthur Lee Parks III from Somerset, Wis., officiating. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until the start of the service.

Services are entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, Wis., 715-684-3434.
