Ronald Eugene Conlin, age 68, of Somerset, Wis., died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at his residence.

Ron was born April 17, 1943, in St. Paul, Minn., to parents Roy Edward and Cecelia Johanna (Jost) Conlin. Ron attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Harding Senior High. After high school, Ron proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. Ron would be united in marriage to Marlene LaVenture on June 14, 1969, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Somerset. Their union in marriage would be blessed with a son, Jeremy, and over 42 years of love and devotion to each other.

Ron worked for more than 28 years as a custodian with St. Paul Public Schools. Outside of work, Ron could be found with a fishing pole in his hand, a dollar in his hand while gambling at a nearby casino, or with a spring in his step whisking Marlene out onto the dance floor. Ron could dance the "Twist" and the "Lindy" with the best of them! He enjoyed country music, Elvis, and music that simply took him "back to the fifties." Ron and Marlene enjoyed going on all kinds of bus tours, and Branson, Mo., was a favorite destination. Ron was also known in his family to have some of the most "famous" recipes around. Deep down though, Ron was a true family man. His love, contagious smile, and gift of friendship will be missed by many.

Ron is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene; his son, Jeremy (Tammy) Conlin; his granddaughter, Alicia; his great-grandson, Carson; his brother Larry Conlin; his sister Joan (Jerry) Anselment; as well as many other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Ronald Conlin will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, Wis. A special thanks to St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care.

Services entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 715-386-3725.
