Blanche Bjorklund, age 86, of Somerset, Wis., died on Friday, March 2, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond.

Blanche Bjorklund, age 86, of Somerset, Wis., died on Friday, March 2, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond.

Blanche was born the daughter of Victor and Georgianna (Martell) Sicard on July 11, 1925, in Somerset. She was married to Chuck Bjorklund on June 3, 1946, at St. Clements Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They lived in northeast Minneapolis. In 1957, they bought a cabin on the Apple River. In 1991, they tore down the cabin and built a home.

Blanche was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a great homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing poker, and traveling. Blanche and Chuck visited all 50 states, England, France, and the Canary Islands. Blanche was a gracious woman who enjoyed a very close circle of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Blanche is survived by her husband, Chuck Bjorklund; children, Brad (Julia) Bjorklund, Patti (George) Kolp, Vikki (Craig) Jameson, and the twins, Jay (Julie) Bjorklund and Joan (Phillip) Hendrix; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiving family at the St. Croix Health Center.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 10, with a prayer service at 3 p.m., at the Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
