Arnold Junior Berquam, age 70, of rural Deer Park, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, March 20, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Junior was born on Dec. 11, 1941, in rural New Richmond, Wis. He was the son of Arnold and Lillian (Norlander) Berquam. He grew up on the family farm and attended Amery High School graduating with the class of 1960. He went to work at Doughboy in New Richmond. In 1967, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Gayle Reese, and together they raised two children. He worked as a carpenter after first being married, but in 1971 he took over the operation of the dairy farm from his parents in rural Deer Park, Wis. They sold the dairy herd in 1998, but Junior continued cropping the land for several years. He rented the farm land out but helped others doing field work until just last year.

He has been a longtime member of East Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a member of and worked with the Lakeside 4-H Club, served as a delegate for Wisconsin Dairies, and was active in tractor pulling. Other activities he enjoyed were playing softball, golfing, deer hunting, and bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lyle Berquam.

Left to mourn are his wife, Becky; daughter, Christine Berquam, and son, Matthew (Kari) Berquam; grandchildren, Justin Hoisington, Jarica Hoisington, Mariah Crandall, Taylor Berquam, and Aidan Berquam. He also leaves other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, at the East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery with Pastor Kathy Pennington officiating. The soloist is Amy Johnson. Serving as organist is Jane Johnson. His grandchildren are honorary pallbearers. Interment will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery.

The Williamson-White Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family. You may sign an online guest book and view a video tribute at www.williamsonwhite.com.
