Francis H. "Frank" Standaert, age 86, of New Richmond, passed away Monday, May 28, at Westfield's Hospital, after a long 7-year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Francis H. "Frank" Standaert, age 86, of New Richmond, passed away Monday, May 28, at Westfield's Hospital, after a long 7-year battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born the son of Leo and Marie (Klinger) Standaert on Aug. 6, 1925, in Chippewa Falls, Wis. In February 1945, Francis married Thelma Johanna Hansen in Hudson, Wis. For 5 years, he farmed for Ed Merkt and the next 47 years, he was employed at Cox Motors as a mechanic.
Francis loved to hunt, fish, and snowmobile. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard; step-great-granddaughter, Jayme Bottolfson; infant step-great-grandson, Travis Bottolfson; several nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Thelma; daughter Susan (Theodore) Cook; grandsons, Gregory (Colleen) Cook, Bryan (Kimberly) Cook, Kelly (Jeri) Cook; six great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Bakken-Young Funeral Home Beebe Chapel in New Richmond. Private interment will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
