William Quinlan, 83

William Francis Quinlan was born at home in New Richmond in December 1928. He died of lung cancer in Palm Harbor, Fla., on June 3.

William Francis Quinlan was born at home in New Richmond in December 1928. He died of lung cancer in Palm Harbor, Fla., on June 3.

Bill was the fifth child born to Mary Genevieve Wells Quinlan and John Richard Quinlan. He joined the United States Air Force upon graduation from New Richmond High School in 1947. He married Theresa Clare Rolirad in San Antonio in 1950. They had two sons, William (Will) Francis Quinlan and Shawn Victor Quinlan. He was selected as a tactical training officer for the first class to enter the United States Air Force Academy. Quinlan achieved the rank of major in the Regular Air Force and retired in 1972 to Safety Harbor, Fla., where he could golf nearly every day.

He was preceded in death by his son Shawn; his former wife, Terry Quinlan; his parents; his sister Alice (Lonnie) LaBat; and his brother Harry Quinlan.

Surviving him are his son Will Quinlan; his sister Sheila (Tom) Egan of Colorado Springs; his brother John (Betty) Quinlan of Minneapolis; his brother Jim Quinlan of Reseda, Calif.; his brother Tom (Kathy) Quinlan of Minneapolis; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Quinlan will be interred at Fort Snelling, Minn. Condolences may be sent to Will Quinlan, 510B Duxbury Court, Safety Harbor FL 34695.
