Victor L. Olson, age 75, of New Richmond and formerly of Horse Creek, died on Friday, June 15, at the St. Croix Health Center.
Victor L. Olson, age 75, of New Richmond and formerly of Horse Creek, died on Friday, June 15, at the St. Croix Health Center.
Victor was born the son of Adolph and Emma (Johnson) Olson on May 21, 1937, in New Richmond. He was a graduate of Osceola High School with the class of 1955. On Dec. 18, 1954, he was married to LaRayne LaRoue. Victor farmed in Horse Creek. On Nov. 27, 1977, he was in a terrible snowmobile accident. Victor survived and outlived medical expectations. He lived in different Aurora Group Homes before moving into the St. Croix Health Center in the late 1990s. He worked at St. Croix Industries.
Victor enjoyed snowmobiling, playing softball, fishing, playing cards and games, and visiting with friends and family. He liked to talk politics and was a huge Packer fan. He was a hard-working, persistent person who was funny and straightforward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Emma Olson; siblings Harold Olson, Art (Elaine) Olson, Helen (Edward) Kruschke; sister-in-law Olive Olson.
Victor is survived by LaRayne Olson; children, Debra (Dale) Gerhardt, Mark (Beth) Olson, Gary Olson, Robert (Korrine) Olson, Thomas (Sheila) Olson; grandchildren, Jeremy Krueger, Chad (Trisha) Krueger, DeeAnn Gerhardt, Joshua (Amanda) Olson, Cassie (Andy) Hanson, Paul Olson, Emily Knudsen, Tyler Olson, Shawna Olson; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Oscar Olson, George (Ruth) Olson, Edward (Alice) Olson; sister-in-law Alice Olson; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at West Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel in New Richmond and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. Croix Health Center Activities Department.
