Lorraine Sophia Cook, age 93, of Somerset, Wis., died peacefully on Thursday, July 19, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond, Wis.
Lorraine Sophia Cook, age 93, of Somerset, Wis., died peacefully on Thursday, July 19, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond, Wis.
She was born May 9, 1919, in Somerset, to Louis and Sophia (Kieckhoefer) Beauvais. Lorraine was married to Elmer Cook February 1936. In 1957, Lorraine and Elmer founded the Cedar Lake Speedway and ran it with their family for 47 years. Lorraine continued to work until she was 80 years old at the Cedar Lake Speedway.
She was a wonderful caregiver to all of her family and friends and knew how to make each one of them feel special and was loved by all.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, who died on May 20, 1985; and also 12 siblings.
Survived by her loving children, Donna King, Robert (Marge) Cook, Ted (Sue) Cook, Gary (Jean) Cook, Jan (Larry) Dubois, Val (Red) Severson, Terri (Jerry) Hecht; brother, Bernard Beauvais; also 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday and also 1 hour prior to the service, all at the church. Interment St. Anne’s Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
