Mabel J. Shay, age 90, of Monticello, Minn., formerly of New Richmond, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, at New River Rehab and Extended Care in Monticello.
Mabel J. Shay, age 90, of Monticello, Minn., formerly of New Richmond, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, at New River Rehab and Extended Care in Monticello.
She was born the daughter of Carl and Ida (Gunderson) Johnson on Jan. 10, 1922, in Deer Park. In 1941, she married Marvon Shay and she became a stay-at-home mom for her two daughters, Sandra and Sheila. Mabel liked candy and ice cream.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida Johnson; husband, Marvon Shay; daughters, Sandra Simma and Sheila Lawrence; siblings, Helen, Edward, Gladys, Norman, Inga, Augusta, Cordilia, Mildred, and Donney.
She is survived by grandson, Shaun (Mary) Simma; granddaughter, Tracy (David) Ford; great-grandchildren, DeAnna, Samantha, Austin, Bobbi Rae, Ethan, and Elli Rae; and other cousins and relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Bakken-Young's Beebe Chapel. Visitation will also be Sunday from 12-1 p.m. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery.
