Ida Leona Lindberg, age 94, of New Richmond, died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Deerfield Gables Care Center in New Richmond.
Ida Leona Lindberg, age 94, of New Richmond, died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Deerfield Gables Care Center in New Richmond.
Ida was born the daughter of Nels and Ovidea (Haugrud) Elkin on Oct. 22, 1917, in the town of Alden, Polk County, Wis. On May 21, 1939, she married Harland Ellard Lindberg at East Immanuel Lutheran Church. Ida worked in downtown New Richmond most of her career, first with Lindy's Supermarket, The Daylight Store, Ms. Julie's, and Larson's Hardware.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active with the First Lutheran Women. She loved to golf and was a member of the New Richmond Golf Club. Ida enjoyed playing Bridge with her many friends. She was a proud, strong-willed woman, a wonderful wife and mother, and a great friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Ovidea Elkin; husband, Harland Lindberg; brothers, Palmer, Arnold, Harold, Albin, Amos, and Norman Elkin; and sisters, Helen Elkin Hanson and Alma Elkin Johnson.
Ida is survived by her sons, Gary (Diane) Lindberg and Greg (Donna) Lindberg; grandchildren, Eric (Karin) Lindberg and Kirstin (Whit) Smith; great-grandchildren, Erin and Brooke Lindberg and Kathryn and Lindsay Smith; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was held on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park, Wis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to your favorite local charity.
