Donald Robert Feyereisen, age 80, of Woodville, formerly of Hudson and New Richmond, Wis., passed away peacefully on Dec. 10 in Woodville, Wis. He was surrounded by his family and the wonderfully dedicated staff at Parkview Nursing Home.
Don was born on April 7, 1932, in Hudson, Wis., the son of Albert and Mayree (Singleton) Feyereisen. He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1950. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, 503rd MP Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C., from 1952 until 1953. He later went on to attend college at the University of Wisconsin - Stout, graduating in 1960 with a B.S. degree in industrial science. After college, Don worked as an industrial arts teacher, cabinetmaker, union carpenter, architectural draftsman, and eventually owned the Feyereisen Home Remodel company in Bellevue, Wash.
Don's athletic passions included baseball, golf, and in his early years, boxing and handstand walking. He was a member of the 1953 U.S. Army All-Star Baseball Team and played 4 years of college baseball. Don's imagination and ability to conceive new ideas was unrivaled. He took tremendous pleasure in woodworking, engineering, and exploring the world through spontaneous travel and consummate research. He also took a strong interest in his family genealogy. In his later years, he spent many hours researching and collecting stories about those that had gone before him. He had a love for the Pacific Northwest and shared many wonderful memories from his time living there with his family. Most important to Don was his family and friends. In his later years, he especially cherished his time with his grandchildren. Don's unconventional and refreshing view of the world will be greatly missed.
