Virginia L. Freiermuth, age 81, of Hastings, Minn., and formerly of New Richmond, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 15, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Virginia L. Freiermuth, age 81, of Hastings, Minn., and formerly of New Richmond, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 15, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Virginia was born the daughter of Archie and Gladys (Young) Hoy on March 6, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Cedar Rapids. Virginia worked as a cook at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond and for Smead in Hastings.

She enjoyed doing crafts, baking, and spending time with her family. She also liked fishing, snowmobiling, and camping. Virginia was a sweet, humble person who was very generous and thoughtful to those she cared for.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Freiermuth; sisters Florence Owen, Betty Ellsworth; and brother, Richard Mahring.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Dennis (Janice Lebeis) Keetley, David Keetley, Donald Keetley, Dewane Keetley, Brian (Dawn) Freiermuth, Allen (Sue) Freiermuth; daughters, Lynda (Bob) Figura, Cindy (Don) Loesch, LeAnn Storm, Jeannette (Craig) Peterson; 36 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters Charlene Sojka, Pat (Carl) Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond with visitation from 1-3 p.m.
