Wisconsin total deer harvest continues increasing trend, sets archery buck record in 2012
MADISON –With data entry nearly complete, hunter-supplied numbers indicate that 366,747 deer were harvested in Wisconsin for the 2012 seasons, a 5% increase from 2011, according to Department of Natural Resources officials.

Early gun-deer results show harvest up nearly 20 percent over last year
Overall, the statewide gun-deer harvest is up over 19 percent from 2011, and registration increased in all regions, the Wisconsin DNR reported late Monday. Warm weather likely had some hunters registering their deer right away instead of leaving them hang at camp, which likely bumped up the numbers.

Annual North Dakota hunt deemed a success
Mid-October marks the opening of pheasant season. Wisconsin’s opener was set for Oct. 20 and that was the same day we were leaving for a week of hunting in North Dakota. Wisconsin’s season extends through the end of the year so my dogs and I would still have plenty of time to try to outsmart a few of our local birds.
