The New Richmond girls team was due, probably overdue, for a breakout round of golf.
That round came last Thursday when the Tigers hosted a Middle Border Conference match at The Links.
Led by senior Jessica Williams, who shot a school record nine-hole round of 39, the Tigers put together a team score of 188. That put them one shot behind Baldwin-Woodville for the team victory.
By getting all seven of its entries into the flight championships, it was a complete team effort that produced the championship for the New Richmond girls in the 2008 Middle Border Conference Girls Tennis Tournament.
The Middle Border Conference girls golf season ended just as it began.
The season began with Baldwin-Woodville taking immediate control of the team competition and Osceola’s Lindsey Danielson returning in search of her fourth straight MBC individual championship. Both the Blackhawks and Danielson never let go of their lead during the MBC season.
