Hazel Mackin Library: Summer reading program is almost here!

It’s hard to believe that May will be flying by and that means that Summer Reading Program is almost here! This year the theme is Build a Better World. We are excited to bring you awesome programs including comedians, Remarkable Reptiles, movie matinees, weekly craft projects, storytimes and park visits, S.T.E.M. every month and  building challenges-to name just a few. Our kick-off program will be at the Elementary School on May 26, with Robert the Magician.  Registration begins June 2, and the reading program will go through Aug. 2. Our program is for toddlers through adults with prizes for every age group. We are excited that the New Richmond Area Centre will be partnering with our reading program again this year so plan on registering right away to get your free day pass to the Centre as the number of passes are limited.

A Novel Idea Book Club: Tuesday, May 30, 5:30 p.m. at Bobtown Brewhouse. This month we will be discussing “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgensteen. Please note change of day for this month because that Monday is Memorial Day.

Food for Fines: During the month of April bring in any non–perishable food item to receive $1 off of your fines. One item is $1 off. It’s a win-win, you can pay down any fines you might have and food shelves will be stocked for the upcoming summer months. If you don’t have any fines and still want to participate, we would love to have you donate your food items.

Story Time: Story times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30-11:15 a.m. On May 15 and 16 will be Summer. Brittany will be taking a few weeks off of story time to get things ready for summer reading.

Teen/Tween Book Club: Thursday, May 18, 6-7:30 p.m. This night will combine both book clubs for some fun activities of games and crafts. Pizza will be served!

Lego Club: Saturday, May 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Red Cross Blood Drive: Monday, May 22, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Senior Coffee and Cookies/Ice Cream: Every Friday at 10 a.m. Stop by for some conversation, games, or just a free cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or tea.

Strong Senior Chair Exercise: This program is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. Come on in and join the movement group! This program will follow a DVD designed to help develop strength and enhance ability to function in daily live, improving stability, balance, and mobility. Feel free to bring small hand weights for a tougher workout.
