St. Luke's anniversary celebration continues

The St. Luke's Lutheran Church bell choir recently performed at The Deerfield and Gables in New Richmond.

As part of a year-long celebration of St. Luke's Lutheran Church's 75 years, April was designated as a month of service.

On April 10, the St. Luke's Lutheran Church bell choir, directed by Tom Green, joined with the vocal choir from St. Anne's Catholic Church in Somerset and violinist Jim Saliny - the orchestra director from New Richmond High School - to perform a concert of sacred and patriotic music for residents of The Deerfield & Gables and their families.

In May, St. Luke's will celebrate Christian Education. The church invites the community, especially high school students, to join them on Sunday, May 5, Confirmation Sunday, when Rev. Thomas Ries, president of Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn., will preach for both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services. Staff from Concordia will join Ries for an informative fellowship gathering between services where he will speak and answer questions about Concordia University. There will be information available about the college as well.

Concordia University, St. Paul is a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university, one of 10 operated under the auspices of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Some future events for St. Luke's 75th anniversary celebration include an outdoor worship service at Mary Park, a grilling competition, and a quilt-a-thon.
