Spooky and social events abound this fall

Looking for a way to celebrate Halloween? Whether it's something spooky or just social, there are plenty of area events to choose from.


• Oct. 23: St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 365 W. River Drive in New Richmond is sponsoring a Fall Harvest Dinner. Adults are $8, children 4-12 years old are $5, seniors 65+ are $7 and younger than 4 are free. Dinner will consist of meatballs, green bean almandine, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, squash, Jello and pie for dessert. There will also be a bake sale, craft corner and "treasures and trinkets." All the proceeds will be divided between Five Loaves Food Shelf, Love Baskets, Pastor Relocation Fund and Organ Refurbishing.

• Oct. 28: Prairieview Covenant Church at 1396 210th Ave. in New Richmond is sponsoring its annual Harvest party from 6 -7:30 p.m. The family-friendly event is geared toward children ages 0-sixth grade. There will be cookie decorating, costume prizes, games and their "world-famous" box maze. Call the church at 246-0600 or visit

• Oct. 30: Senior Monster Mash Bash, hosted by the Aging and Disability Resource Center of St. Croix County, 1-3 p.m. at the Roberts Park Building, Park St., Roberts. Snacks, costume contest, dancing and prizes. Free will donation goes to the Senior Center Board Coalition. Call 1-800-372-2333 for more information.

• Oct. 30: United Methodist Church at 209 E. Second St. in New Richmond is also hosting a Harvest Party from 6:30-8 p.m. Attendees can play games, make crafts, enjoy snacks and hear autumn-themed stories in a haywagon outside. For more information, call the church at 246-2464 or visit

• Oct. 31: The Centre of New Richmond (428 S. Starr Ave.) will host a Halloween Spooktacular from 1-3 p.m. There will be hay rides, costume prizes, games, The Centre's Jump House and more. Oct. 24: The Star Prairie Lions will host a Haunted Hayride from 6-8 p.m. at the Star Prairie Community Center. The cost is $5 for ages 12 and older; $3 for those younger than 12. They will accept a free will donation for food and drinks. For more information, contact Cindy at 248-3226.

• Oct. 23, 24 and 30, 31: The Town of Tormented Souls at The Country Store, 638 Highway 65, (exit #10 off I-94) Roberts. The haunted barn is open from 7- midnight. Entry is $15. There is a special kids version of the barn for those younger than 12 that is open Saturday, Oct. 24 and 31 from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $5 per child. • Oct. 24: Halloween Bash, 6-8 p.m., Willow River State Park, 1034 County Road A, Hudson. Dress in your costume our annual Halloween bash. There are children's games, story telling and a hike to learn about different animals that live or have lived in Wisconsin. Cost is $2 per person and park admission rules apply to all vehicles.
