July 4th celebration planned at Hatfield

The traditional fireworks display and celebration at Hatfield Park will again be held with fireworks beginning at dusk on Thursday.

The annual family celebration begins at 7 p.m. with a flag presentation by the American Legion.

According to Joe Kerlin, parks and recreation director, the Kiwanis Club will provide games for kids, along with bounce houses provided by The Centre. Lyle Orr and A Notable Event will provide music throughout the night.

Viewers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to view the firework display.

This year's Fourth of July celebration is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, City of New Richmond, New Richmond Chamber of Commerce and New Richmond Area Centre.

The cost of the fireworks presentation, along with the prizes for the kids' games, is paid for with fund raised by the Chamber during the Spring Sparkler Golf Outing and sponsors like Family Fresh.

"Thanks should also be given to the 35+ golf teams, made up of local businesses, who participate in this annual May event," said Lisa Woelz, Chamber director. "Without the contributions of all of these people, the Fourth of July celebration would look very different."
