Heartland Days kicks off Aug. 7

This year’s Hammond Heartland Days promises to be a rollicking good time, with a little something for everyone. After being eliminated last year, Thursday events are added back in to this year’s lineup, making for four days of family-friendly events in the Heart of St. Croix County.

Heartland Days events

Thursday, Aug. 7

  •  Area garage sales start festivities off Thursday morning. To have your garage sale listed, register by Aug. 1. Registration forms and location maps are available at Bob & Steve’s BP (1060 Third St.) and Village Hall (455 Davis St.).
  •  Free Community Dinner, sponsored by Citizen’s State Bank, 4:30 p.m., Village Park. Followed by the Pep Band Ice Cream Social and Mike Fern dedication.
  •  Baby Show (0-12 months), 6 p.m., under the tent at Village Park. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Call Jeanine Helgevold at 715-760-1739 for details.
  •  Hammond Heartland Award Winner and Grand Marshal, following the Mike Fern dedication at Village Park.
  •  Fireman’s Kitten Ball Tournament, 6 p.m. at Village Park.
  •  Queen’s Pageant, 7 p.m. at St. Croix Central Middle School (1295 Vine St.)
  •  Live music featuring “Trigger Happy,” 7-10 p.m. at Village Park.

Friday, Aug. 8

  •  Area garage sales continue
  •  Men’s 14-team softball tournament begins at Village Park. Call Tim Myer for details at 715-796-5621.
  •  Various food vendors available throughout the day at Village Park.
  •  National Act Jacob Martin Band, 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Village Park. No cover charge. Ten drink tickets sold for $20.

Saturday, Aug. 9

  •  Pancake breakfast, 7-10 a.m., Trinity Lutheran Church (1250 Broadway St.) Free will donation.
  •  Area garage sales continue
  •  Men’s softball tournament continues, beginning at 8 a.m.
  •  Mulligan Open Ball Tournament. 8 a.m. at the Hammond Golf Club (450 Davis St.). To register call 715-796-2266.
  •  27th annual United Fire & Rescue Car Show, 8 a.m., Davis Street. Call Curt for details at 715-410-1482.
  •  Panther Pant 5K Run/Walk, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. behind the fire hall (1055 Clyde Hanson Dr.) Watch for signs. Parking available behind fire station. Race begins at 8:30 a.m.
  •  Bingo! 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., under the tent at Village Park.
  •  Championship Series Truck & Tractor Pull, Fithian Street, weigh-ins begin at 5 p.m., pull starts at 6 p.m. Contact Craig Myer at 715-781-4118 for details.
  •  Live music featuring “Paisan,” 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Village Park. No cover charge. Ten drink tickets sold for $20.

Sunday, Aug. 10

  •  Area garage sales continue
  •  Men’s softball tournament continues, starting at 8 a.m.
  •  Grand Parade, 12:30 p.m., Call Lori Devall at 651-494-4473 for details.
  •  Chicken dinner and meat raffle at Village Park following the parade.
  •  Holiday Angels Kids Carnival, 2-6 p.m. at Village Park. Games, prizes, face painting, crazy hair and more.
  •  Wisconsin State Kids Pedal Tractor Pull, at Village Park. Open to kids 1-12 (five different classes). Registration begins at 2:30 p.m., pull starts at 3 p.m. The event is free.
  •  Live music featuring “Boston Haas,” following the parade at Village Park. No cover charge, $2 beers.

Sarah J. Nigbor serves as a regional editor for RiverTown Multimedia, a position she began in April 2017. She joined RiverTown Multimedia in October 2013 as a news reporter for the New Richmond News, before being appointed editor of the Pierce County Herald in Febraury 2015.
