The 2015 Art & Culinary Show will take attendees back to the Roaring 20s to help support New Richmond Rotary Club programs such as the STRIVE scholarship program.

“I created this event 10 years ago and every year we have raised more money than we did the year before,” said Joanne Wrich, one of the co-chairs for the event. “The event has gotten more and more popular throughout the years and it has built a reputation of being a good opportunity as well as a great community event. It is a great way to give a little more back to the community.”

The Art & Culinary Show is scheduled for April 26 from 5-8 p.m. in the R&D Banquet Center at Ready Randy’s in New Richmond (1490 131st St.). Cost for the event is $40, with tickets on sale since March 10. Tickets can be purchased at Ready Randy’s, the Deerfield, the First National Community Bank of New Richmond or online at newrichmondrotary.com. Flappers and Gangsters are welcome. The event will also include a special appearance by Klondike Kate. Last year’s event raised $20,000 for Rotary programs.

This year’s show features 19 artists, 18 restaurants and chefs and three spirit vendors.

“When we started the show 10 years ago, I had to approach the artists and businesses and convince them to take part. Now they get it and I don’t have to go asking for people to be part of the show,” Wrich said. “Many of our participants and volunteers have returned year after year because they see this as an opportunity to not only promote their art and talents but to also support the Rotary Club and its community outreach programs.”

Back by popular request is the Chef Showdown. Kari Hurtis of Ready Randy’s will take on the reigning champ Gary Zielsdorf from Wild Badger in a rematch of last year’s showdown.

This year, the New Richmond High School culinary class will team up with the Art & Culinary Show. Culinary teacher Laura Feyma and her students will not only prepare their own specialty dishes, but they will also assist restaurants with serving their menu items.

The show’s returning honorary chairs are Randy Calleja from Ready Randy's, Linda Soifakis from Champs, Sarah Dudgeon from Dudgeon Pottery and music instructor Barb Peterson.

“This Rotary event is successful because of the collaboration with our talented and committed honorary chairs,” Wrich said.

Featured artists for the 2015 Art & Culinary Show include David Ralph Johnson, Steve Mireau, Kelly Otto, Nate Peterson, Sarah Dudgeon, Karla Faith, Micheal Farrell, Edna Grotjahn Early, Derek Carlson, Pat Thompson, Jason Rohde, Taylor Berman, Mark Stary, Susan Davis, Melissa Belanger, Judy Hostvet Paulson, Lori Klinger, Jenna Wojan and Patrick Cassanova. The show will also feature the following businesses: Champs Sport Bar & Grill, Ready Randy’s Sports Bar & Grill, Family Fresh Market, Parkside Restaurant & Bar, the Laurel Supper Club, JET’S Coffee Bistro, Brady’s Brewhouse, Roosters Roadhouse, Wild Badger Sports Saloon, Rusty’s Waterin’ Hole & Chowhouse, Cedar Lake Reflections Teas, High School Culinary Group, This Old Store, Acapulco Restaurante Mexicano, Pub 112, Old Heritage Catering and the Agave Kitchen.
