On July 12, The Heritage Hillside Series is pleased to present local musician Steve Meyer and his band True Heat. They'll be playing a great variety of classic blues songs, performed originally by legendary artists such as Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Willie Dixon and other famous godfathers of the blues.

The band includes Steve Meyer on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Nightie Martin on drums, John Donovan on bass and Paul Zadach on keyboard and sax. Meyer formed his own group in the late '80s and has been performing shows in western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota since then. He started playing harmonica and guitar in a local band from New Richmond in 1971 and since has performed in groups in Vermont and California. Moving back from California in 1986, Meyer started his own group which he continues to front today, as well as play in a 20-piece swing band, an eight-piece jazz pop band and a Brazilian based jazz group from River Falls.

Nightie is originally from St. Petersburg, Fla., where he received a degree in music from Florida State College in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a "first call drummer" there and has since relocated to Prior Lake. Paul "Pez" is from St. Paul and grew up playing in major bands from the T.C. area such as the Dee Miller Band. John "J.D." is originally from Detroit and has played in national touring acts. He currently resides in Apple Valley and has performed with all the major blues bands from the Twin Cities area such as Lynwood Slim and Mojo Buford.

The evening is sponsored by Daren Powers CPA. There will be pop and popcorn available for purchase. In case of inclement weather, the event will move into the pavilion, with limited seating. For further information, please call the Heritage Center at 715-246-3276.
