Immaculate Conception to host Irish Mass

The Immaculate Conception Church of New Richmond will host an Irish Mass at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, featuring the Irish band Switchback. Mass will be repeated again at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's church in Erin Prairie. All are welcome.

According to the Rev. John Anderson, the Mass — which is called "The Hibernian Mass" and was written by Switchback — will be about an hour long and will be very similar to a normal Catholic Mass.

"This is a new adventure for me and a lot of people who haven't been to a Mass like this before," Anderson said. "We have copies of the music so people can sing along with the songs. It will be like a regular Mass, but it will be in Gaelic."

Switchback has performed all over the country, according to Anderson, and they will also be performing at the Shamrock in New Richmond the night before Mass.
