Friends of Library invites community to block party

The Friends of the Hammond Community Library would like to invite you to attend their Building Blocks Block Party event 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9. All proceeds from this event will be put towards a new library facility.

This is a family-friendly event that is sure to have something for everyone. From 4-8 p.m. you and your family may enjoy carnival games and food, and don't miss out on laser tag, jump houses, and a special surprise that will be brought out for the very first time at the carnival.

At 4:30 and 6 p.m., Emily Roberts with Snake Discovery will do a presentation with live snakes.

From 5-8 p.m., there will be live music by Trigger Happy.

From 4-8 p.m., bid on multiple items or maybe just that one really special item at the silent auction. There are baskets, gift cards and specialized items for all ages to bid on throughout the afternoon/evening. Special ticket auction for kids ages 2-14. Tickets for this auction may be purchased day of the event.

Plus at various times you can get a chance to throw a pie at the library director.
