SCC Elementary students honor veterans

Veteran Ernie Spinko, who served in the Navy for three years and was on a ship in the Gulf of Tonkin, beseeched the audience at St. Croix Central Elementary School’s Veterans Day program on Nov. 8, to volunteer at the county’s Veterans Service Office to drive disabled veterans to appointments, or help however they can. :St. Croix Central Elementary School students sang many songs to honor veterans at their annual Veterans Day program on Nov. 8. Songs included Thank You, Soldiers, Grand Old Flag, This Land is Your Land and America. They also asked everyone to observe a moment of silence in memory of all veterans who have served America. Veterans Steve Erickson, who was in the Air Force, and Jennifer Morrow, who served in Wisconsin and Minnesota National Guard units, praised older veterans for paving the way for them to serve. Sarah J. Nigbor serves as a regional editor for RiverTown Multimedia, a position she began in April 2017. She joined RiverTown Multimedia in October 2013 as a news reporter for the New Richmond News, before being appointed editor of the Pierce County Herald in February 2015. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Spanish and French in 2001. She completed a minor in journalism in 2004.
