Library hosts coupon event

Anyone interested in extreme couponing can learn more about the process at Friday Memorial Library on Thursday, March 22.

Katelyn Rustin and Cristy Wainionpaa will host an event called "Couponing 101" that will help local families save a bundle.

Georgia Jones, children's librarian, said she had been flirting with the idea of hosting a coupon night for about a year.

It wasn't until she overheard one of the regular story time moms talking about a couponing class she took that Jones' ears really started to perk up.

"I asked her about it and, after exploring it further, I discovered another mom who did couponing," she said.

The two women, who also belong to the New Richmond Area Mom's Group, had done a presentation in the past for the mom's group.

"I guess she stocks her pantry using coupons and carries a notebook dedicated to coupons," Jones said. "I, myself, and others are really interested in it. It's a huge endeavor to take on and I was excited to find someone locally that knew so much about it."

The class will take place at 6 p.m. on March 22. There is no fee for the class and registration is not required.

Jones said she's unsure how many people will attend the event; however, she hopes everyone realizes how useful the information could be.

"A lot of people, especially young families with one or two kids, can really benefit from it," Jones said.
