A fund has been set up by the Associated Banks to help aid the Mansfield family of Somerset as they make their journey to Zambia to pick up their grandchildren following the tragic death of their daughter Katrina and son-in-law Jay.

Katrina Erickson, a Somerset native, and her husband died on Saturday, June 2, in a plane crash in Zambia. Jay and Katrina worked as missionaries in Africa since February. They lived with their two daughters in Africa.

"They really felt called to be on the mission field," said Katrina's sister April Grandpre, "They just wanted to bring the light of Christ and the healing of the hospital to the local people so they did a lot of flying for people that couldn't get there fast."

President of Zambia Michael Sata declared Tuesday, June 5, a day of national mourning in honor of the couple.

The Mansfield Memorial fund is designed to help cover the costs Larry and Doreen Mansfield, faithful attenders of the Bible Baptist Church in Hudson, endure as they pick up their granddaughters in Africa and additional costs that ensue with the girls, getting belongings sent back to the states, hotels, planes, and everything else that is involved. Donations can be made to the fund by visiting any Associated Bank.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church at 341 North Shore Drive in New Richmond on Saturday, June 23, at 1:30 p.m.
