Farmer’s market seeks new vendors

It’s that time of year again. The time when you see vendors selling fresh produce in roadside stands and farmer’s markets. Plump berries, honey, flowers, you name it, someone has it for sale.

The Somerset Farmer’s Market is gearing up for a fruitful season and will open on Thursday, June 19, according to coordinator Valerie Burke.

The Somerset market will be open from 3-7 p.m. on the grassy knoll near the Apple River Liquor Store (520 Main St.) every Thursday from June 19 until Oct. 16.

The market, which in years past has had anywhere from six to eight vendors, will welcome several new vendors this year.

“I am excited to be having vendors with fresh cut flowers, pies from Tipsey Pies, honey, grapes and apples, as well as a huge selection of fresh vegetables and berries,” Burke said.

Econofoods will also have a booth the last Thursday of each month selling brats and non-alcoholic beverages, Burke said.

“We hope the Somerset community will come out and see us,” Burke said. “We are hoping to get more vendors as the season progresses.”
