Health clinic opens in Family Fresh Market

Karen Kramer, nurse practitioner, was on hand for the opening of Westfields Hospital HealthStation at Family Fresh. The walk-in clinic opened at 3 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Westfields Hospital has opened Westfields Hospital HealthStation, a walk-in clinic in Family Fresh, 110 W. Fourth St.

The clinic opened on Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. Karen Kramer, nurse practitioner, said the clinic is open Monday though Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Patients must be at least 18 months old.

"We're in the process of hiring people, but the clinic will also have some rotating from Westfields Hospital and (physicians assistants) from New Richmond Clinic," Kramer said.

Eventually, as the clinic gains in popularity, the hours will be extended to match Family Fresh's pharmacy hours, Kramer said.

Kramer said another similar clinic operates in Hudson and has been very popular.

Patients 18 months and older are able to get treated for various illnesses at the clinic, she said. Most services cost around $55.

Some of the services include treatment and screening for allergies, bladder infections, colds and coughs, pink eye, pregnancy tests and sore throats. If patients need further care, they are referred to area clinics or hospitals.

Not appointments are necessary to visit the clinic. Visits are first come, first served and take about 15 minutes.
