Blues festival in Durand Aug. 2 benefits food shelf

Looking for some great music without having to pay a day's wages for tickets?

There's no cover charge at the first-ever Blues on the Chippewa music festival Aug. 2 at Memorial Park in Durand, Wis.

Eight prominent regional acts will play from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Then, follow the live band music to Bubba's Back Door, the Construction Zone, Mick's Garage and Shari's Chippewa Club -- with no cover charges.

Scheduled artists include Love Buzzards, Left Wing Bourbon, Catya's Trio, Deep Water Reunion, Lucy Creek, Mojo Lemon, Cool Disposition and Ellen Whyte.

Music lovers are urged to bring a non-perishable food donation for Bread of Life food pantry in Durand. Sponsorships are available for $25 and up.

A classic car and cycle show is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call Jon at 715.279.1519 for details.

Concessions by local non-profits will be available at the park.

Rob Edwards and Dan Callan organized the event.

Edwards said "Blues on the Chippewa is a chance for a lot of us to do a little something for the community, and we hope to use the event on behalf of other worthy causes in years to come."
