Sheets gets shut out as Brew Crew breaks out brooms at Miller Park

Ben Sheets threw his second career shutout Sunday when the Milwaukee Brewers blanked San Francisco 7-0 at Miller Park.

Sheets held the Giants to five hits and no walks and he fanned eight in his first shut-out since May 29 of his rookie season of 2001 against St. Louis.

Sheets threw 78 of his 109 pitches for strikes and the best the Giants could get were two doubles.

Ryan Braun fell a triple short of the cycle as he went 3 for 5 with three RBI's.

Gabe Kapler homered and went 2-2 with a pair driven in.

Milwaukee has scored first in all six of its contests so far and Prince Fielder is the only Brewer to get a hit in every game. He doubled Sunday.

The Brewers have also stolen nine bases in 10 attempts.

Sheets is now 1-0 after throwing his 14th career complete game.

Barry Zito took the loss for the Giants, giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings. He's 0-2 as the Giants ended a 1-5 road trip in which they scored just 12 total runs.

The Brewers swept their first home series, to win five of their first six contests. They're off today, and will host Cincinnati Tuesday night.
