Firefighters from New Richmond Fire & Rescue and the Deer Park Area Fire Department responded to a barn a fire late Sunday night in the Town of Stanton just east of the Village of Star Prairie.

Emergency crews were dispatched just before 11:30 p.m. to Jensen Cattle Co. at 2279 150th St. According to property tax records, the property is owned by David A. Jensen.

New Richmond Fire Chief Jim VanderWyst said the barn fire was called in by a passerby and the cause is unclear. He estimated the structure to be about 20 feet by 100 feet.

"The entire structure was lost," VanderWyst said. "We saved the pole shed and the milk house. Basically it was an older barn that was being used for young stock."

No people or animals were injured in the blaze, according to VanderWyst.

Nearly 30 firefighters from the two departments poured thousands of gallons of water on the blaze for about three hours in the early morning hours, and a crew from Roberts Fire Department was dispatched to cover the New Richmond station.

According to dispatch logs, also responding to the call were two St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies, an EMS team from the New Richmond Area Ambulance Service and a Star Prairie First Responder.
